Let Your Hair Down

As someone who is in desperate need of a haircut, I find myself drawn to all sorts of images of hair, wondering if it's time for a pixie cut or a return to brunette-dom at the very least. As tends to be the case however, it's when you've stopped looking that you find an unexpected spark of inspiration. Spotted at Where The Lovely Things Are, I'm absolutely loving these delicate illustrations - and better yet, they're all available at nosideup's Etsy store!

I think I'll keep my hair long for the time being.Now just to master something a little more elaborate than a stock-standard pony tail!

Friday Finds

I've been obsessing about the great range of ceramics on Etsy for weeks now, but I'm still waiting patiently for the Australian dollar to be worth something again (ha!) In the meantime though, I thought I'd share around some of my favourite ceramic finds so that I've done my part to send them to good homes.

These gorgeous little guys are by Popkraft, our friends over in Auckland. What I would do to own a set of these all for myself! Come onnnnn Australian dollar!

This adorable vase is from slightly further afield, from Canadian store AmyJaneClayAddict. Perfect for disorganised people like myself who never quite get around to buying fresh flowers, it even comes with a removable hand pinched ceramic flower.

I'm completely infatuated with these ceramic pillows from Brooklyn-based Djena. Sure, it's probably not the most comfortable nights sleep you'll ever have, but definitely...

Bejewelled Bespoke's first post - Colour!

I am totally obsessed with colour.

I think it is cheeky - like my man's dark navy bespoke suit with the bright pink and yellow paisley inside lining which flashes its underside as he walks. It can be daring – like a bright emerald green one-shoulder Grecian dress with white opal and gold chandelier earrings in a room full of little black dresses. It can be uplifting – almost delectable block upon block of fragrant handmade soap in all shapes and sizes.

That said, here's my pick of colour from Etsy:

Porcelain dream

I have this idea of my perfect bedroom. The walls would be an eggshell colour with lime washed floorboards, quirky antique furniture and vintage linen. And scattered around the room would be sweet little porcelain figures in all manner of pastel shades.

Dress it Up

As I put together my very first all-things-wedding post over at That Unreliable Girl, I began to realise how much amazing fashion is available on Etsy. Obviously, I'm a little slow. So despite the cooler months approaching, I'm going to share three of my favourite Etsy designers (all Portland ladies, by some odd coincidence!) and some of the best dresses they have to offer.

The first designer is Makool, who has a way with chiffon and silk that I can't help but love! My absolute favourite dress is the 'Gold Spalding' dress, above, that's made from cotton jersey, vintage lace, feathers and touches of silk. Heaven!

The 'Grey Sparrow' dress is a close second, with silk and chiffon in grey, beige and plum. The details are so soft and perfect, and the colours work beautifully together.

The 'Bleu Rosy Finch' dress is another silk and chiffon number complete with an adorable bubble hem and the ability to customise the colours to your hearts desire! Makool suggests that this would make a perfect bridesmaids dress, and I tend to agree. And if all that wasn't enough, she also has a gorgeous blog!

Next up is Sarah Seven, whose 'A Peaceful Afternoon' and 'White As Snow' dresses has been getting plenty of very deserved blog attention!

I also adore the 'Pink Petals' and 'Powdered Sugar' dresses, the former in light pink chiffon and the latter in white organza with a recycled silver bead waist.

I left this 'Lemon Drop' dress out of my wedding post, but I still absolutely love it. The good news about all these dresses is that coming into winter, they'd all would look great with a leather jacket, tights and boots. And better still, 5% of all purchases go to charity!

Last but not least is Emily Ryan, whose designs with cotton and jersey are structural, origami-inspired artworks. The 'Spiral Pleats' dress is possibly one of her more well known designs, and for good reason!

The 'Honeycomb' dress is another pleated masterpiece that would be just as perfect in the workplace as it would for the most stylish of events.

The soft jersey folds on the 'Gathered Front' dress make this my personal favourite, simply because it looks so comfortable and effortlessly stylish. This is yet another dress that would be just as perfect in spring with a cute pair of heels as it would be in the dead of winter (well, Sydney winter) with a jacket/coat, tights and boots, or maybe even some cute patent heels a la Gossip Girl ( or flats for that matter, or ICE SKATES!) Bring on winter!

Well I'm very excited to have just made my first Etsy sale... though it was hard to part with it at the post office this morning because I fall in love with every piece I make! Night Owls Represent

Hello ladies! I've been living up to my namesake (ThatUnreliableGirl, aka MsUnreliable) of late and have been neglecting my Etsy Loving duties. So I'm finally checking in to share some of my latest handmade finds!

My bodyclock has been AWOL of late, so I've decided to embrace my night owl status. And what better way to do that than to trawl Etsy for a little company?!

If it wasn't for the lousy Australian dollar, this vintage ceramic owl planter would already be mine. I even have the perfect little strawberry plant that needs to be repotted. Curse you $AU!

I could also make a little room on my fridge for this jumbo owl magnet (on the left), and I have plenty of staid work outfits that could do with a little character, like this adorable little owl brooch.

And let's be honest, despite my best efforts to jazz up my rent-a-box apartment, my walls are still painfully white. Maybe a set of owl prints is just what my walls need! I love this cute little owl illustration (left), and the textures and colours in this owl collage print are gorgeous too!

All night owls need a partner in crime, but perhaps I need two! Lily the Sweet Owl (left) is yet another gorgeous creation from Skunkboy Creatures (more here), and Chester the Owl looks way too cute to ignore! I can totally see myself sitting down with these two fellow night owls, sipping tea and discussing the latest blog trends. Or something. I don't think this nocturnal thing is doing good things for my brain.

Here are five of my favourites on Etsy lately (which look set to be just favourites for awhile thanks to the ever-falling AUD, woe). I'm Clara-Bow on the forums btw. :)

1. Black Raspberry Vanilla Cupcake Soap from Morgan Street Patisserie. It looks so delicious I'm not sure I could actually use it!

2. French Pastries Necklace from Robin's Jewelry Box. I love the detail in this. Mmm food.

3. This Tea Cup Purse is from talented Australian designer Tabitha Emma. This is so cute that I may have squealed aloud when I first saw it...!

4. And now for a non-food related item...this Cream Brocade Pleated Clutch is from another Australian Etsy seller, mystudio.

5. Annnnnd lastly, I had to include this Clara Bow Retro Scrabble Tile Pendant from Vanity Design. Sweet, no?

Yay!! So we're finally up and running! This blog is of course just in its initial stages, and suggestions are more than welcome :) I will set it so that all members can post- if you could just send an email to etsyvoguettes[@]gmail.com I can send you an invitation.

I have set up an etsyvoguettes buyer account on etsy HERE so that I can collect favourites for the pics that appear in the side panel on this site (the Etsy mini). Convo me there if you want a particular item of yours to be added otherwise I'll just choose one from time to time.

The profile for our team is HERE down the bottom on the Australian teams site.

I just made the banner quickly because I couldn't think of what else to use, seeing as we all sell different things. Open to suggestions for everything!
